Goku

Goku is the most evil character to enter DBZ. I know what you are thinking: WHAT!? Well, if you calm down I'll explain.
ahem (clears throat) Goku is even more arrogant then Vegeta and is very confident. He hides it behind that evil goofy grin. A
perfect example is when he fought Nappa (I could start with original dragon ball but we'll let that slide), when he told the
other fighters to leave. He just wanted to fight Vegeta and was confident and smirking. All the people killed by Nappa
were going to be avenged and he and this nice guy Vegeta were going to fight. Forget the fact they he is ranked one of the best fighters
and cruel killer- no, he didn't need any help. He could take this guy by himself and he would beat him. Goku
dismissed any threat Vegeta could have been. He was arrogant. Remind you of anybody?

Goku taunts people by acting innocent. It's bull and he knows it. Perfect example: the room of spirit and time (Trunks Saga).
Goku is coming out of the room with Gohan. Now, he knows how Vegeta is, how wounded his pride was, and how hard
he worked in the year in that room. Trunks told him. Anyway, Goku tells Vegeta that he is a lot stronger than he is and in
less time. He smirks evilly. I'm sorry, Vegeta may not be the most likable guy, but Goku knew he was challenging
him like a bully would to a smaller kid. Now, to do such an act to a enemy is fine, but to a ally it is unforgivable. The sad thing is
Goku does it to everybody he fights with, but especially to Vegeta.

Now this is interesting: you notice how everyone says Goku is the strongest and Goku defeated that person etc.? More bull.
Goku never won a battle on his own. He always had help, always. When Goku arrives on Namek, for example, one Ginyu is out of the way. Guldo was killed by Vegeta, and Recoom was weakened already and not at his fullest
potential, so he can't be declared Goku's win. Both Gohan and Vegeta had fought Recoom with everything they had, which left him
fatigued. As for Jeice and Burter, well, Vegeta killed both of them, of course, because Goku beat Burter but didn't finish the job. Vegeta killed Jeice with out help and Jeice was ready for battle at his fullest. Now that's a victory. Okay, now let's go to
Ginyu. Everybody fought Ginyu and the one who got the most damage was Vegeta, but Goku gets credit.

(calms down after taking a breath) Don't get me wrong- Goku is one of my favorite characters, and as a favorite character
you have to look at their faults, and he has plenty. The fight with Frieza is another good example that Goku did not win the
battle alone. The others helped and without the loss of Krillian he would not have transformed. Vegeta died fighting Frieza and he
should had received some credit, as does Piccolo when he wore some of his energy down. Okay, he lost that with the androids
period- the only ones who gained any momentum from those battles was Gohan and Vegeta yet every thing is focused on
Goku. He is the hero and the only one that gave Vegeta credit was Piccolo (Ooo I can't wait to talk about him).

Goku also plays with his friends lives by not doing anything, putting them in jeopardy. In the battle with cell second form he
didn't show up for Piccolo but Tien and hit Gohan because he wanted to help. I know Gohan would have been hurt and
Goku did the right thing by keeping him back, but he contradicted himself when he used the instant transmission on
instantaneous movement. Anyway, why wasn't Piccolo good enough to be saved but Tien was? Goku should have been up there
anyway, should had been fighting alongside his companions instead of fleeing. Why!? I'll tell you - he was afraid to lose. He is
afraid of failure as much as anyone is. Another example is when he let Gohan fight Cell. I don't know about you, but I think that
is a terrible way prove his son's strength. At the time Gohan's hidden power was unpredictable and Goku never mentioned this
to Gohan until he is up against the powerful Cell. You don't force anyone onto battle like that, and doint that to your own son is twice as
shameful. Poor Gohan.

If it were my child, I would had fought to the end to spare him of that battle and done whatever was necessary to keep him out of
it. Goku was not desperate, just trying to humiliate Cell by letting a kid beat him, for Goku does not quit, if you noticed. Just a
quick thought - Goku doesn't have much stamina. He usually gets to a battle near the end when every one is fatigued and he's
just getting warmed up. Well, the funny thing is the enemy usually gets the best of him, resulting in him doing something drastic
in order to save face. Basically, if Goku got to the battle in the beginning he might not be so tough to beat. He doesn't have a lot
of stamina and is constantly eating senzu beans. I think the Android Saga is the best example of this theory...

Goku puts people's lives at risk to satisfy his fighting appetite. He is no different then the ones he fights, for he is also power
crazy. Think about the fight with Frieza: Goku turns Super Saiyan. Frieza even says that Goku was no different then him. Again Goku
smirks, meaning yes, he is also bloodthirsty and loves to fight. Yet he is kind enough when he beats his opponent who declares
revenge- he lets them go, knowing that letting them live after such a defeat is worse than death to those warriors, especially
when they are not used to being defeated and at the same time being humiliated. It plagues them and Goku knows it; he even
said so in the battle with Frieza. "Now live with the shame - keep it buried inside," resulting in the enemy going after his
family, friends, and his planet. Yes, Vegeta also puts people at risk, but so does Goku. The only difference is that Goku doesn't seem
evil but kind and goofy -a clever disguise of the evil within the Saiyan side.

Now there is a lot of good in Goku. For example, when everyone was to afraid to fight Frieza, he went and helped Vegeta. He
is kind and a very passionate fighter, and he does fight for the good of the people. Everyone depends on him because he gets
results, but I think his thrust for battle is just as strong as Vegeta's. He is an incredible fighter and he is a comic genius - just ask
King Kai. He is a warrior with faults but is pure-hearted and very concerned for people of the universe's well-being. He wishes
to save everyone from evil to protect them and give people who are evil a second chance. He is naive, if you think about it.
Goku is a complex character- moreso then the others, at times. He can be hypocritical, but his goal is the same: to
protect, to help, and to teach. Goku is an angel, without a doubt. He cares and would sacrifice himself for the greater good, and for
that he deserves credit, but so do Piccolo and Vegeta. Their sacrifices meant more. Well, Vegeta's did, anyway. Goku was
going to other world and he knew he wasn't going to hell.

Goku is difficult to understand. It had to be hard for him living on Earth with all these kind people, then finding out you are
an alien of a barbaric race and they want you to kill. Goku is capable of hurting but not of killing, only sacrificing himself
when he kills an enemy (excluding the movies).(GT does not count - that wasn't created by Toriyama so it doesn't count why well just imagine some body remaking your story. Get my point?) I don't think he ever got over the story Kai told him about his people, which wasn't entirely true. He neglected some things. For example, he says planet Vegeta or Vejiitasei was destroyed by its guardian, that this good man brought forth a cluster of meteors to the planet in order to punish the Saiyans....Frieza, a good man? King Kai has been smoking something and never mentions the fact the his people were forced into Frieza's empire, nor the fact that his father stood up
against the tyrant. No, the point is "never listen to Kai; he is constantly wrong"...Oops, sorry, King Kai is another story. Well, that
is enough on Goku for now.
